The Lagos State Government has trained 210 military wives in various skills to help them become economically independent and increase their family income.

The women, residents of the 15 Farm Engineers Task Force, Topo Barracks, Lagos, were trained in hairdressing and wig, stone-throwing and fabric decoration, cake making, snacks and drinks, soap making, cosmetics, stove and insect repellent, among others.

The Ministry of Women’s Status and the Fight against Poverty provided short-term vocational training through its skills acquisition center in Badagry.

The exercise ended on August 26 after a major four-week engagement, and the women received start-up equipment to help them start their businesses right away.
