Ababu Namwamba resigns state job after being appointed to Ruto’s campaign team

Ababu Namwamba resigned from the government on Thursday, February 10, just one day after being named on the Ruto campaign team.

Namwamba expressed confidence that he would carry out his duties in the secretariat of the Ruto campaign secretly

He also thanked President Uhuru Kenyatta for the opportunity to serve in his government for the past four years.

Secretary-General of Foreign Affairs Ababu Namwambi resigned from his post one day after Vice President William Ruto named him on his campaign team.

Namwamba announced his resignation a day after receiving the lucrative appointment in the Ruto campaign secretariat where he will oversee the vice president’s international relations throughout the campaign season.

Speaking to reporters on Thursday, February 10, Namwamba thanked the DP and his team for trusting him in their campaigns and also assured him that he would do his best to fulfill his role.

“I am grateful for the trust they have shown in inviting me to fulfill this important role. I believe I will bring great experience to this new position,” he said.

He also thanked President Uhuru Kenyatta for the opportunity to serve in his government for the past four years.

“I thank the President for the appointment, but it is time to step down,” he added, further congratulating the team he worked with in the ministry.
