Boarding schools should be banned, it’s just. a budden to teachers: KUPET

Teachers of the Kenya Union of Primary Education called on the government to start finishing boarding schools to reduce the workload of teachers.

Principal Secretary Akelo Misori said that unlike their school-age counterparts, boarding school teachers end up working long hours without receiving additional pay.

He said the situation has been exacerbated by the Covid-19 scandal, where boarding school teachers have to spend more hours making sure students pay for lost time when schools close.

Misori spoke today in Embu town at a meeting with union representatives from the North and South East.
