Bread prices expected to hike, from 55bob to kshs 60

Kenyans are expected to sink deeper into their pockets after the price of bread, which is the country’s staple food, rose.

A report by kenyannews specifically on Tuesday, February 8, a representative from Supa Loaf, one of the bread makers, confirmed that the price of bread will increase by Ksh 5 in most categories.

200g bread will increase by Kshs 2.50 from Kshs 32.50, while 400g which sells for Kshs 55 will increase to Kshs 60, including an increase of Kshs 5 representing a peak of 8, 3%.

600g bread will also increase by Ksh 5 from Ksh 80 while 800g bread will increase from Ksh 100 to Ksh 110. The 1.5 kg bread will also increase in price from Ksh10 from Ksh190 to Ksh200.

The new amendment is expected to take effect next week, Tuesday, February 15, 2022.

The representative explained that the rise in prices was due to the rise in the price of raw materials such as wheat used to make bread.

“You know, the cost of equipment has gone up. As that progresses, even we, for our part, will make, at least, make adjustments that may be appropriate. Please be patient,” he said. Explain.

According to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) on January 31, Kenyans are expected to prepare for difficult times due to rising inflation.
