Caroline Kangongo to be buried on Saturday at her parents home.
The investigation into police officer Caroline Kangogo is scheduled to take place later this week.
Until yesterday afternoon, the last bad story of the policeman who hit the headlines since July 5 after being linked to the shooting of two men was still a mystery.
Kangogo’s lifeless body was found in a bathroom at his parents’ home in Elgeyo Marakwet more than a week after his colleague John Ogweno was found shot dead in his car at Kasarani police lines in Nakuru. A few days later, businessman Peter Ndwiga was also found dead in a shooting at a residence in the town of Juja. Both deaths were linked to Kangogo.
What was clear yesterday was the date of Kangogo’s funeral, which is scheduled for Saturday at his parents’ farm in Anin, a small county of North Keiyo.
Yesterday, security officials at Elgeyo Marakwet were being investigated while Kangogo’s investigation was carried out, saying only that the death was now being investigated by police. Elgeyo County Commander Marakwet Patrick Lumumba could not confirm whether the murder detectives from DCI headquarters in Nairobi were sent home to deceive theories that emerged during an earlier investigation last Friday.
Unconfirmed reports said Sunday that an investigation team had been sent to gather evidence that would provide clues to police suicide or death.
A family source who asked not to be named said an autopsy is expected to be held tomorrow at Iten County Referral Hospital, where the body has been lying since Friday.
At her parents’ home in Elgeyo Marakwet, Caroline Kangogo’s body was found in a bathroom.
But Kangogo’s father, Barnaba Kibor, said they had not yet decided when the autopsy would be conducted.
“I do not want to discuss this issue further. We are now focusing on funeral arrangements, ”Kibor said in a brief reply.
Kibor, a retired police officer, claimed his third daughter had committed suicide. According to relatives, the police officer arrived at his parents’ home at 10pm on Thursday during boda boda before his body was later found by relatives in the bathroom.
“We found out that a boda boda rider took her from a popular restaurant in Iten town and dropped her off near her parents’ property. We believe then Caroline went straight to the bathroom, where she was found dead,” the parent said.
