Chebukati on the spot for suspending Mombasa elections

Mombasa Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) gubernatorial Candidate Adulswamad Shariff Nassir has pummeled Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission Chairman (IEBC) Wafula Chebukati for suspending races in Mombasa County.

Nassir censured Chebukati for canceling the surveys endlessly, refering to provocation and oppression of IEBC authorities.

“Deferring the races in Mombasa is an all out maltreatment of office, such choices can’t be made by a singular they must be made by the commission,” Nassir expressed.

The ODM applicant further asserted that the IEBC Chairman repudiated the Elections Act and that they will move to court to challenge the choice and have the surveys directed on August 23.

“The Elections Act is extremely clear too as Article 55, races can be delayed in case of harmony precariousness, Natural calamity or break of misbehavior,” Nassir Noted

Chebukati had recently delayed Kakamega and Mombasa Elections during a media instructions, refering to a misunderstanding of competitors’ photos on the voting form papers.

Nonetheless, Chebukati has briefly time canceled the decisions, saying another date will be reported through a paper notice.

In a proclamation on Wednesday, August 17, Chebukati expressed that the suspension was because of provocation of the commission staff at Bomas of Kenya on Monday, August 15 where disarray broke out before the statement of the official political race results.

“Considering winning conditions, the commission has delayed the by-races scheduled for 23rd August 2022, to a date to be declared through a newspaper notice,” Chebukati said

The Electoral body had likewise scheduled races in four voting demographics Kitui Rural, Kacheliba, Pokot South, and two wards Nyaki West Ward (Meru) and Kwa Njenga (Embakasi South) on August 23 which presently stand suspended.

Further, Chebukati asserted that during the declaration of the official political decision results, chiefs Abdi Guliye and Boya Molu and CEO Marjan were truly attacked.

The IEBC administrator likewise required the capture and indictment of the individuals who caused mayhem at Bomas of Kenya no matter what their political affiliations.
