Kakaemga County Governor Cleophas Malala has shared copies of his college papers in an effort to dispel doubts as to whether he has qualified for the job.
Malala shared copies of his Kenya Secondary School Certificate (KCSE) as well as his university certificate.
The senator said the CUE University Education Commission approved the documents and ordered the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission to allow him to participate in the race.
The University Education Commission (CUE) has approved and recognized my academic credentials and has now advised the IEBC to allow me to run in the August 2022 election of Kakamega County Governor, ”the senator wrote on Facebook.
Senator Malala also slammed his critics who questioned his academic qualifications, saying they should be ashamed.
Proponents of her case have been working to make the actual transcript of this statement available online. Attached are certified copies of my professional honors, ”Malala wrote.
The senator’s decision comes shortly after he was forced to apologize to the National Police Service after making statements about officers at a meeting.
Senator Malala had claimed that the police department was a safe haven for school leavers and people with no professional qualifications.
The politician said the NPS does not need highly qualified people as job descriptions are “simple”.
A police officer, according to him, is responsible for carrying a gun and therefore does not need technical knowledge, which would push him to continue his training.
