Covid-19 Update ; 1,414 new cases and 31 deaths in the last 24 hours.

Kenya has recorded 1,414 new Covid-19 infections, out of 10,235 samples tested in the last 24 hours.

The new outbreak, which posted a promising level of 13.8%, brought a total of 227,077 infections, according to a press release from the Department of Health on Friday.

In those cases, 1,380 are Kenyans while 34 are foreigners comprising 733 women and 681 men. The youngest child is a five-month-old baby while the oldest is 99 years old. Kenya has so far tested 2,297,678 samples.

1,670 recovery
In terms of distribution to the country, Nairobi recorded the highest number of new infections in the last 24 hours and 419 cases followed Kiambu 203, Nakuru 90, Machakos 68, Kitui 63, Murang’a 53, Uasin Gishu 40, Nyandarua 34, Kajiado 33, Garissa 31 , Kilifi 30, Meru 28, Embu 26, Mombasa 25, Makueni 21, Kirinyaga 20, Tana River 19, Marsabit 19, Migori 17, Laikipia 17, Kisii 16, Nyeri 16, Nandi 15, Baringo 14, Bungoma 14, Lamu 12, Busia 9, Mandera 9, Narok 9, Kakamega 9, Siaya 6, Kisumu 7, Homa Bay 5, Turkana 4, Kericho 4, Vihiga 3, West Pokot 2, Elgeyo Marakwet 1, Samburu 1, Tharaka- Nithi 1 and Trans Nzoia 1 .

Health Adviser Mutahi Kagwe announced that 1,670 recovery had been reported, with 1,484 under home care program, while 186 were from various hospitals across the country. The total recovery is now 209,839.

Meanwhile, the death toll from Covid-19 in Kenya has risen to 4,435 after 31 deaths. One of them in the last 24 hours, while 30 are still dead, were reported delayed deaths after inspecting facility records in July. and August 2021.

Extra oxygen
2,066 patients are in hospitals in different health faculties all over the country, while 9,323 are under home care. 167 patients are in the intensive care unit (ICU), with 75 on respiratory support and 92 on additional oxygen.

Another 792 patients are on oxygen supplementation, with 734 in general care and 58 in dependency units.

Another 2,290,801 vaccines were used nationwide by August 19, according to data from the Ministry of Health.

Of these, the first total dose is 1,517,734 while the second dose is 773,067. The second dose among those who received their first dose was 50.9 percent, most of them 55 percent. The proportion of adults who were fully vaccinated was 2.8%.
