CS Charles Keter resigns to focus on Kericho Governor bid

Devolution Minister Charles Keter resigned in order to focus on his goal of becoming the next Kericho governor.

Keter resigned on Tuesday and will run against DP William Ruto’s UDA party.

“I am resigning from my government office to focus on running for the Kericho County seat,” he told a news conference at the Treasury Building.

He is the first Cabinet Minister to resign.

“I would like to sincerely thank Mr. President for giving me the opportunity to serve in his cabinet since 2015, when he appointed me to join his government.” Keter said.

Keter resigned as Kericho Senator in 2015 to take over the cabinet post, following the appointment of President Uhuru Kenyatta.

He had been appointed Minister of Energy and Petroleum before being appointed to the role of energy.
