CS Kagwe : You shouldn’t pay for Covid-19 vaccine.

Health Cabinet Secretary urged Kenyans not to pay to be vaccinated against Covid-19.

In addition, CS Mutahi Kagwe added that only the Ministry of Health and county health teams are responsible for immunization campaigns.

“If they ask you to pay, take the vaccine, then refuse to pay,” he said.

Speaking to Health House when it released the update on Covid-19, CS said health care teams are being trained to ensure the cold chain system is maintained and the strength of the vaccine is maintained.

Kagwe warned those who sold or offered Covid-19 vaccines outside websites designated by the Ministry of Health that they risked prosecution.

Vaccines that have not been stored and shipped in accordance with established protocols may lose their effectiveness and will not be beneficial to those receiving such vaccines.

CS Kagwe added that any vaccine management should be done by a trained and registered doctor or nurses.

“These workers must also have received the latest vaccine control training. Anyone else doing so would be violating the law,” he said.

Immunizations that are not given properly will cause side effects that can lead to death.

Kagwe has criticized other politicians who he says are undermining progress in the fight against the spread of Covid-19.

“It’s bad and unacceptable,” he said. “It has the potential to endanger public life.”

SC warned health workers against colluding with foreigners to provide them with immunizations without permission from the health ministry. Those arrested will face disciplinary action, he said.

Kagwe also urged health facilities to adhere to all doses received, administered and remaining. Devices that are unable to answer liability questions run the risk of being deregistered.
