Vice President Rigathi Gachagua bought a shirt worth 50,000 shillings from a second-hand shopkeeper on Wednesday, during the launch of the Hustlers Fund at the new Green Park facilities.
Comedian Chipukeezy had invited small businesses including smoke and sausage sellers and second-hand traders on stage to talk about their difficulties in doing business and how Hustlers Fund will help them.
In a short time Chipukeezy chose one of the second-hand shirts and called DP Rigathi on the stage to suit, the shopkeeper said he would sell the shirt for Sh500.
“Usually this shirt sells for 1,000 shillings but since Riggy G is my friend I will sell it for only 500 shillings,” said the second-hand dealer.
Responding quickly, however, DP Gahagua said he would buy him for 50,000 shillings and handed over the money to the cheers of the crowd.
The CEO of Safaricom, Peter Ndegwa, who was also called to the stage to buy smoke, paid 200 shs instead of 50 shs.
