Elon Musk Says Tesla Superchargers To Be Used By Other EVs This Year.

Tesla boss Elon Musk has said the company’s network of dealers will be available to electric car drivers from other manufacturers later in 2021.
Responding to a post from a Twitter user on the Supercharger Network, Musk first explained why Tesla chose to create its own awesome network for the unique use of its vehicles. “We made our connector because there was no standard at the time and Tesla was [only] the sole manufacturer of long-distance electric cars. It is a thin thin connector for low and high load.
The Tesla boss then revealed, “Having said that, we are opening up our retailer network for other electric vehicles later this year.”
When asked if opening the Supercharger network for other electric vehicles would be in all countries or not, Musk replied, “For a while, in all countries.”
This is not the first time Musk has raised the possibility of other electric vehicles using the Tesla charging network. He revealed in December 2020, also by answering a question on Twitter: “They are available [for others to use] although it is reasonable. Tesla superchargers are made available for other electric vehicles.
Musk alo spoke about this in 2014, when the Supercharger network was first built. At the time, Tesla boss said other manufacturers were invited to use the charger, but no one accepted his request.
Instead of building their own networks, some manufacturers have adopted a variety of charging methods. Many offer branded services that give drivers access to a wide range of chargers offered by many companies, including Electrify America in the United States and Ionity in Europe, with payments being made through the driver’s account and the manufacturer of their car.
Finding a container can be a big deal for non-Tesla EV drivers, because of their location, speed, and ease of use. However, Tesla owners may be a little disappointed, as this move could make Supercharger stations more busier than it is today.
