  • Safaricom PLC (@ SafaricomPLC) October 18, 2021 In a statement, Safaricom CEO Peter Ndegwa said the timing of the maintenance activities was planned to cause minor inconvenience to customers. “We continue to invest and design in M-Pesa to ensure that we continue to meet the needs of our customers and support our partners in their business prospects,” added Ndegwa. On Sunday, DCI detectives arrested a man who damaged Safaricom’s communications equipment estimated at more than 2 million shillings. Investigators said Lenny Ng’ang’a, posing as a Safaricom engineer, was arrested by police and the equipment confiscated. Ng’ang’a is alleged to have carried out an illegal maintenance mission and was given access to a dispatch center in Murang’a after persuading a security guard to let him in.
