Family to businessman who drowned in Juja dam writes 9-lines only eulogy for his burial yesterday.
Family members of the businessman who drowned in the Juja dam eulogized him in a short nine-line three-paragraph poem at his funeral on Friday, January 27.
According to some friends of the deceased, the full message had been written but they were shocked to find three paragraphs in the four-page funeral programme.
From the eulogy, it was clear that neither his wife nor his children were mentioned. The cause of his death was also not mentioned.
Furthermore, those who attended the funeral noted that there was tension and very few speeches were given to honor the deceased.
The funeral was held at his grandfather’s home in Gumba village, Mukurwe-ini constituency, Nyeri county.

“CHEER A MAN WHO LOVES AND CARES
The late Tirus Maina was born in February 1984 in Mukurweini, Nyeri County. He was the third son of the late Joseph Gikonyo and the late Madrin Wangui. He was his beloved brother Jedidah Wangari, the late Judy Wairimu, Michael Mbore, Joyce Wanjiru and Isaya Mwangi.
The deceased started his schooling at Kariara Primary School and moved to Rutune Primary School and then Dedan Kimathi University.
Late Tirus moved to Thika where he started working as an engineer in 2006 with different local and foreign companies until his death,” reads the eulogy.
The deceased was with his friend when the car they were in fell into the pond on Tuesday, January 17.
According to police reports, the vehicle was found in a running condition, suggesting that it may have been driven into a roadblock.
The mysterious woman who drowned with the businessman was identified by her family a week after the incident. He had recently graduated from university where he pursued a career in hospitality.
