Fresh details emerge as CCTV footage of Olympian Agnes Tirop’s home received by the DCI.
Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI), murder unit, on Saturday October 16 received video surveillance photos from the home of slain athlete Agnes Tirop in Elgeyo Marakwet.
The detective, who was among those taken to the home of the late Olympic star, said the video would play a key role in the ongoing investigation.
“The video is important as it shows the grandmother’s last moment before her death and promotes an ongoing investigation,” said the detective, who spoke boldly to the media.
The officers, however, refused to share the photos with the media.
The athlete was found dead at her Iten home, Elgeyo Marakwet, on Wednesday, October 13. Detectives have arrested her husband Ibrahim Rotich in connection with the horrific murder.

The Tirop family told the media that the couple were in a temporary relationship and had only agreed to reconcile when the man committed suicide.
Police said the deceased was stabbed in the abdomen before bleeding to death.
Immediately after the incident, the suspect fled to Changamwe in Mombasa County and planned to flee to a neighboring country.
“The suspect is currently being questioned by detectives at Changamwe police station, to get more information on the killings before he is brought to court on murder charges,” DCI chief George Kinoti said in a statement after his arrest.
The suspect, who has already confessed to ending the life of the 25-year-old athlete and even apologizing, will be arraigned in court on Monday, October 18.
