Garbage truck driver shot six times along Thika Road
The driver of a garbage truck was shot dead on Thursday night and killed in the cold while waiting for his truck to be filled with garbage on Thika Road.
The driver, identified only as Maina, was driving a truck contracted by the Kenya National Highway Authority to collect debris on the Thika highway when the incident happened around 10pm.

Police and witnesses said the victim was shot at least six times by an armed man with an AK47 rifle.
Maina had driven the truck to the Tourism tunnel and parked it there waiting for the debris collected to fill up when a rest truck pulled up behind his truck.
Witnesses who survived the shooting said the man with the gun jumped up and towards the driver and shot him six times before rushing to the car and leaving.
Six other garbage collectors were not injured in the attack.
The police force that attended the scene found six used cartridges and interrogated other attendants who said they had picked up rubbish in the city center and headed for Kasarani.
The car was also following a truck from the city center, witnesses said.
Starehe Police Chief William Sirengo said they had not yet identified the motives for the attack.
Police say the body was moved to a mortuary and it appears the gang’s intention was to throw the deceased.
