Government declares Friday 29th a national holiday.

The government has declared Friday, April 29, a national holiday to celebrate and fire former President Mwai Kibaki.

Kibaki, who died yesterday, will be scheduled for a national funeral on Friday next week at the Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi, “with full military honors and protocols”.

Home Affairs Minister Fred Matiang’i added that his [Kibaki] body will be displayed in Parliament from Monday, April 25 to Wednesday, April 27.

President Uhuru Kenyatta and Mother of the Nation Margaret Kenyatta will lead the country by looking at her body in public at 10:00 a.m. Monday.

“All other dignitaries and government officials must have arrived in the National Assembly for the ceremony before 9:00 a.m. after that, the public will be allowed to look at the body and pay their last respects,” Matiang’i said.
