The wife of Harambee Stars veteran fan Isaac Juma has recounted how her husband was hacked to death.
“We were eating dinner at our house and before going to bed we heard sheep crying in our field,” she said.
Speaking to KTN on Thursday, Farida said Juma left home to check on the problem.
“But as he was opening the door, these men were waiting for him on the tree,” she said, figuratively, pointing to a tree behind her.
“he screamed for help when he saw the men. When I heard the screams I woke up quickly and found my husband in the hands of the killers,” she said.
She said the attackers had already fled the house.
“He was cutting his neck like a cowboy, when he saw me he ran away,” she said.
“He told me he had land issues in the area and if he died I would have to tell the authorities it was because of the land dispute.”
Police said they arrested the suspect in connection with the attack.
Officials handling the case said preliminary results showed the attack was caused by a land dispute in the area.
Officials said Juma was killed by a bomber at around 11pm on Wednesday.
Juma religiously supported the national team, Harambee Stars and AFC Leopards.
The body of the deceased was transferred to the mortuary of Butere Hospital awaiting autopsy.
