Senate Speaker Kenneth Lusaka failed to turn up for his nomination as Kenya Kwanza Bungoma gubernatorial candidate at the home of Vice President William Ruto in Karen, Nairobi on Wednesday, much to the embarrassment of union leaders gathered at the event.
Mr Lusaka was expected to be inaugurated at 8am by DP and Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetangúla and a Samburu gubernatorial candidate. The former governor arrived just after 3pm after the ceremony was over, saying he had attended one event in Nairobi.
The problems started when Mr Lusaka’s call went unanswered as each of the leaders, including Dr Ruto’s personal assistant, Farouk Kibet, tried to reach him. Everything was ready for the event highlighted in the DP’s busy campaign schedule.
After many hours of waiting and fruitless calls, DP and Mr. Wetangula had to direct open Bungoma leaders to introduce Samburu governor as part of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) campaign team.
