In a post on his official social media pages, Macharia said he received reports of Kibe’s death in shock and grief.
Joe died on Wednesday December 1 while undergoing treatment at the Aga Khan Hospital.
Kibe was the chairman of the Muranga Celebrity Panel, succeeding the late Mr. Charles Rubia.
He led a delegation of business leaders from Murang including the President of Royal Media Services, Dr. S.K. Macharia, Bishop Gideon Githiga, Maina Wanjigi, Amb. Solomon Karanja, Muthoni Likimani, Nicholas Ng’ang’a and Professor Lucy Irungu.
“He was wise, generous and humble. Kibe was one of the most prominent public service leaders in Kenya, having served as PS in the early years after our independence.
“Her dedication to service and patriotism is unparalleled. Our thoughts and prayers are with Mrs. Kibe and her family. He was the father of Captain Gilbert Kibe, CEO of KCAA, “said CS Macharia.
Kibe has also served as Vice President and Treasurer of the Board of Directors of the Africa Harvest Biotech Foundation.
He was also the chairman of the Kenya Agricultural Crops Development Authority, which was transformed into the Directorate of Crop, Fisheries and Food Authority (AFFA).
The billionaire had a unique interest in financial investment and good governance, which led to his being named director of more than 10 private sector companies and non-profit institutions and deposits.
The mogul has been known to some extent for maintaining a simple life outside the public eye.
