The 2022 presidential race is expected to be a two-way contest between incumbent Vice President William Ruto and Odm leader Raila Odinga.
The two leaders have been identified as key candidates in the race, which also includes Anc leader Musalia Mudavadi and Kalonzo Musyoka of the Wiper party. People such as Kivutha Kibwana, William Kabogo, Gideon Moi and Moses Wetangula have also expressed interest in running for office.
Raila has defended unity through the United Nations Declaration, which aims to bring Kenyans together ahead of the 2022 general elections. He emphasizes the adoption of a low-income economy model rather than a declining economy.
Earlier in the day, Makueni County Governor Kivutha Kibwana announced his decision to run for the presidency and support ODM leader Raila Odinga. According to Kivutha, he decided after consulting with Makueni County elders at a meeting held on Thursday last week.
He revealed that he plans to launch his bid for the presidency after Raila completes his term. He was speaking at the conference in Naivasha.
