Aman, suspected by DCI to be the shooter of Mirema Drive in Roysambu, Nairobi, last Monday surrendered to police.
In a widely circulated CCTV footage, a man is seen shooting at 40-year-old Samuel Mugo Mugota. Mugota died on the spot.
The suspect Dennis Karani Gichuki was accompanied by his lawyer Samwel Thuku today when he visited DCI Kiambu County headquarters.
Last week, DCI published a notice stating that Karani was suspected of plotting the Mugota attack in the afternoon.
On his official Twitter page, DCI identified Karani as a dangerous gunman suspected of possessing a firearm that was looted from a stunned police officer in November 2020.
But Karani, speaking to reporters at DCI headquarters, denied the allegations saying he did not understand why the police had isolated him as the main suspect.
“I heard the news at a restaurant in Nakuru [county] when a friend of mine told me that I was chanting on social media. I was shocked and wondered why I was?” he laid.
Karani admitted knowing the deceased saying they met for the first time at a mutual wedding in Meru County in 2018. However he denied doing business with her.
