MC Jessy: DP Ruto tricked me to step down

MC Jessy has opened up about his recent differences with Vice President William Ruto.

A native of Jasper Muthomi, a prospective politician recently joined the DP and joined the Democratic Alliance (UDA) political party in a bid to win the southern Imenti parliamentary seat in the August 2022 elections.

This decision forced MC Jessy to leave UDA and announce that she would stand as an independent candidate. Reflecting on the case in an interview with Citizen TV, the journalist claimed that the DP had never consulted him before announcing the decision.

“The biggest mistake I made was agreeing to this meeting with the DP,” he said. “I thought we were going there for a discussion on the way forward. But instead, I was asked to resign. I never agreed to quit. I could not talk about it immediately with respect.

“I spoke to my supporters in Meru before meeting with the DP. I discussed the need for a free and fair nomination exercise with my opponent before the meeting. Prior to joining politics, Mc Jessy was a well-known journalist who promoted his brand on the popular Churchill program.
