MCA Aspirant Benson Thuranira arrested on MPesa Fraud charges
Benson Thuranira Kathiai, an MCA candidate in Muthara Ward, Meru County, has been arrested on Mpesa fraud charges.
Thuranira was apprehended by DCI detectives and identified as the mastermind behind Mpesa’s ongoing ‘proven’ fraudulent scam in various parts of the country.
His arrest follows numerous complaints from Mpesa agents who had lost large sums of money through his alliance.
He is accused of defrauding Mpesa agents for a total of 350,000 shillings.
“In Nakuru, the robber obtained Sh100,000 from two Mpesa agents before receiving another Sh135,000 from Shauri Moyo, Sh60,000 from Busia and Sh120,000 from Meru before his final arrest,” the official said. .
Detectives called on Mpesa officers who met his prey to report to the police station for further investigation and handling.
He is currently in police custody and will be charged on May 30, 2022.
