Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa arrested.

Kimilili MP Didmus Baraza was arrested for assaulting a local entrepreneur.
This morning at his home the MP was arrested by police following a complaint from contractor Steve Kay.

Bungoma County Police Commander Musyoki Mutungi said no one was above the law, adding that the MP should be prosecuted before a judge in the Kimilili court.

“We will take him to court to answer charges of causing bodily harm to the contractor,” Mutungi said.

The police chief said Kay reported the incident after the incident at Lurare Primary School on July 30 in the Kimilili constituency.

On that fateful day, Barasa allegedly attacked the entrepreneur in broad daylight when he discovered that the classrooms he was supposed to open at the school were locked.

” The MP had just cut the tape and was about to open one of the classrooms when he discovered there was a lock,” Mutungi said.

The entrepreneur told Barasa that he would only open the classrooms after his payment was paid.

The dispute arose with the MP who allegedly attacked the contractor.

The county’s contractors condemned the incident and demanded the arrest and prosecution of MP Barasa.

Mutungi said police conducted their investigation before arresting lawmakers. “We are waiting to hear what the court has to say.”
