A rescue operation is underway in Miami-Dade County, Florida after a 12-story building collapsed partially overnight.
Photos from Surfside, north of Miami Beach, show a large pile of rubble on one side of what appears to be a residential building.
There were no immediate reports of people being injured or caught.
Most of the evacuation sites are located in the collapsed area, which is believed to have occurred around 2 a.m. (7 p.m. GMT).
The Miami-Dade Fire Rescue said it sent 80 vehicles to the scene. Police are also involved in the rescue operation.
Police raided the building site at 8777 Collins Avenue, the 12-storey address of Champlain Towers, which has more than 100 seaside rooms, according to the Miami Herald.
Surfside runs along Collins Avenue, north of Miami Beach.
