As the country wakes up to the sad news of the death of the third President of Kenya, Mwai Kibaki, world leaders have sent condolences to the country and the family of the late Kibaki.
Kibaki enjoys the honor of a leader who revolutionized Kenya’s economy even after the country plunged into a state of forgetfulness and political unrest in 2007.
His knowledge of the financial and economic world played an important role in his presidency which lasted for two terms. However, his reign was also dominated by the political hunting of his political enemies, which he neither responded nor tolerated.
After President Uhuru Kenyatta announced his death, prominent officials from all sides visited Lee’s funeral home where his body was carefully preserved. One of the leaders who went to inspect the body was former Prime Minister Raila Odinga who served under Kibaki during the 10 years he was president.
However, something surprised Kenyans Raila Odinga when he visited Lee’s residence. KDF soldiers at the scene greeted Raila Odinga as he entered and left the cemetery.
These honors are given only to the president and his deputy. It is now clear that Raila Odinga is a key figure in President Uhuru’s administration who deserves that honor. Kenyans took to social media to discuss today’s events.
