North Koreans banned from laughing & taking alcohol for 11 days mourning period .

People in North Korea were reportedly banned from laughing at another brutal mourning procession by their leaders.

Leader Kim Jong Un celebrated the 10th anniversary of the death of his father and predecessor Kim Jong Il on Friday, but ordinary people blamed the harsh reality on them.

The celebrations mean the mourning period has been extended from 10 to 11 days this year – but locals say the most intense manhunt began before the celebrations.

One of them told Korean Free Asian Radio channel, “During the mourning period, we should not drink alcohol, laugh, or participate in leisure activities.”

The unnamed resident of the northeastern town of Sinuiju near the Chinese border added that the purchase of vegetables was also banned on December 17, the day the former leader died in 2011.

They continued, “In the past many people who were caught drinking or drinking during mourning were arrested and considered extremist criminals. They were taken away and never seen again.

“Even if one of your family members dies during the mourning period, you are not allowed to weep aloud and the body must be removed when completed. People will not even be able to celebrate their birthday if they fall in mourning.

The Supreme attended a ceremony with senior officials at the palace where his father’s body was laid to rest in the state while people across the country held a memorial.

Kim Jong Il, the second member of the Kim dynasty, ruled North Korea for 17 years until his death.
