Not all Simcards need to be registered – Ezra Chiloba makes a U-turn

The Communications Authority of Kenya has rescinded an earlier order requiring Kenyans to re-register their SIM cards.

CA chief executive officer Ezra Chiloba said the order applies to those with unregistered SIM cards.

Chiloba’s U-turn with his team came just two days after he issued a warning that Kenyans who failed to re-register their SIM cards would be fined Ksh300,000 or jailed for six months.

Following the threats from CA, Kenyans expressed their frustration accusing the Communications Authority of failing to explain why they should register SIM cards that are already registered.
