Ole Kanchory:Raila won the election, but he gave it away.
Azimio la Umoja Resolution leader Raila Odinga in the 2022 general election, Saitabao Ole Kanchory, talks about what he calls the lack of organization and discord in Odinga’s campaign machine which he claims led to his failure to win the presidential elections .
In a new book titled “Why Baba is Not The 5th” released on Wednesday, Kanchory called the August 9 polls that declared William Ruto the president-elect a “sad joke” on the Azimio side.
He says Odinga, 78, who was vying for the top position in the country for the fifth time with the help of Narc-Kenya party leader Martha Karua, 65, as his co-candidate, failed in the election due to the lack of an appropriate strategy. and the organization of his campaign team made up of staff from the command center and election officials.
“Elections in Kenya are neither won nor lost; they are taken. Father gave. He won, yes, but he gave it away. The election of the President is for those who are ready to participate. In the last 20 years, there has never been an election in Kenya that has been won, they have all been taken,” Kanchory told KTN News in an interview on Wednesday night to promote the book.

On August 15, Wafula Chebukati, the Chairman of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), announced Dr Ruto as the winner of the presidential election after obtaining 7,176,141 votes, equivalent to 50.49% of all votes cast.
Odinga came second with 6,942,930 votes, which is 48.85 percent of the votes cast.
The former Prime Minister contested the results and filed a petition in the Supreme Court against Ruto’s victory, but the high court dismissed Odinga’s petition for lack of evidence, which made the former vice president, 56, sworn in on September 13.
According to Kanchory, the Azimio machine assumed that they were the outright winners of the vote. He accuses Odinga and Karua of not communicating with the brief of the presidential campaign and leaving a disorganized team to handle things.
“Not once did Baba and Martha participate in our deliberations, as a national team of senior agents, in the command center or call to ask about the process,” Kanchory says in the book, adding that only once did they sit down. with the participants. it was during the Supreme Court application process.
He mentions former ICT Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru, former Home Secretary Dr Karanja Kibicho and former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s brother Muhoho Kenyatta among those blamed for Odinga’s victory.
