President Samia Suluhu Hassan has raised questions after firing a government official just hours after she had appointed him.
On Sunday , 4th April 2021, President Suluhu made key changes in her government that included appointing new permanent secretaries in various ministries, appointing directors to lead various government agencies among others.
One of those who were lucky to be appointed was Mr. Thobias Mwesiga Richard, who was appointed as the Director-General of the Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation[TPDC].
However, his celebrations were short-lasting after his appointment was on Monday morning [today] was revoked under unclear circumstances.
Through a statement shared with the media few minutes ago, President Samia revoked his appointment and reinstated Dr. James Mataragio as the Director-General of TPDC.
President Samia did not reveal reveal reasons why she had decided to revoke the appointment she had made. She only asked the former director-general to resume the office and all its powers immediately.
