Queen Elizabeth mourns late Kibaki as a great Statesman

Queen Elizabeth II has mourned the death of former President Mwai Kibaki calling him a “great politician”.

In her special condolences to President Uhuru Kenyatta, the Queen noted that she was saddened by the death of President Kibaki.

“He had a long career serving the people of Kenya. It will be a great sadness for your country to lose a great leader, but Kenya can be proud of the legacy of its leadership. I offer my condolences to you and the people of Kenya for this tragedy, ”she said.

Kibaki, who died on April 22, 2022, at the age of 90, served as the country’s third president from December 2002 to April 2013, succeeding Daniel arap Moi.

Kibaki will be buried on Saturday at his home in Othaya village, Nyeri County.
