Information on the one-week trip of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga abroad, including several days in India, has been released.
The media reports that the former prime minister traveled to India to visit his daughter, Rosemary Odinga, who is undergoing eye treatment.
Rosemary undergoes a treatment called Ayuverda – a cultural system that seeks to maintain good health and well-being by balancing body and mind.
Treatment is performed at Sreedhareeyam Ayurvedic Eye Hospital and Research Center in Koothattukulam, India.
The hospital’s chief physician, Narayanan Namboothiri, was quoted by international circles as saying that Rosemary would be examined for a few days.
Official reports from Raila’s spokesman Dennis Onyango said he would attend the 35th African Union Summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, before traveling to India.
However, details about the trip to India remained scarce, leaving Kenyans and politicians alike to guess why Odinga was out of the country.
Rosemary’s vision problems began in 2017 when she lost her sight after suffering a minor stroke. Two years later, he regained his sight but underwent regular medical checkups.
