Robert Alai charged with causing harm to Ringtone and freed on a 300k bail.

Blogger Robert Alai has been accused of attacking gospel singer Alex Nyanchoga Apoko, better known as Ringtone.

Alai was charged on Monday with causing serious damage to Ringtone following a July 23 dispute on Cotton Road in Kilimani.

He also faced a second count of property damage.

According to the indictment, Alai intentionally and illegally damaged the driver’s window and the driving board of a Range Rover owned by Ringtone and damage assessed at Ksh 416,524.

He denied the charges and was released on Ksh 300,000 cash bail.

On July 23, Alai was arrested and detained at Kilimani Police Station for allegedly beating him with a ringtone and a wooden club.

According to officials familiar with the situation, the two sued each other for preventing a riot that started on Loitoktok Road and the spread of Dennis Pritt and Likoni Roads.

Mr Alai was charged with hitting Ringtone’s drive on the Loitoktok road.
