Kiharu MP Nidndi Nyoro said the immigration officer said he had received “instructions from above” not to allow DP William Ruto to make a private visit to Uganda.

Vice President William Ruto has been barred from making a personal visit to Uganda, his communications team said.

” He was asked to seek permission from the chief of staff and cabinet secretary when he arrived at the airport . We are surprised. This has not happened in the last nine years,” Communications Secretary David Mugonyi said on Monday.

In what appeared to be a response to the cancellation, the DP took to Twitter and said: “Everything is fine.”

Reportedly the DP was in contact with the Chief of Public Service Joseph Kinyua about the matter, but Kinyua said he was unaware of the incidents.

Kapsaret MP Oscar Sudi, who is a close ally of Ruto, took to Facebook to express his frustration, saying he was supposed to travel with the DP but ended up waiting “for five hours”.
