Section Of Langata Road Closed As Footbridge Near Nyayo Roundabout Collapses

Traffic was light at Langata Road on Saturday after a pedestrian bridge built near Nyayo Stadium collapsed.

Police say one driver was injured in the incident, which also involved three cranes.

“Yes, the driver was injured after a road under construction at Nyayo Stadium collapsed on three cranes and forced the closure of Langata Road,” Nairobi police chief Joshua Omukata said.

Omukata urged drivers to co-operate with traffic police officers as they direct traffic to the alternative. “The road was being raised when it collapsed on the gorge of the site.”
