DCI is investigating an incident in which two lovers allegedly committed suicide after jumping from a fifth-floor apartment in Kilifi.
According to a police report, the two men whose bodies were repeatedly broken jumped from the bedroom hall at 3 a.m. Saturday morning.
An apartment guard who spoke to DCI detectives said he heard a loud bang on the back of the house, followed by the sound of a car alarm that sounded immediately.
“The guard went to see what was going on, but only met and saw the body of a naked man, lying on the ground. When he thought of his next step, the second body, this time that of a woman, came. Criminal Investigator George Kinoti said.
The superintendent quickly reported the incident to Mtwapa Police Station, overwhelmed by fears of “ghosts falling” at his workplace.
Detectives escorted him to the scene where they discovered two bodies with multiple bones, a man and a woman.
“It was discovered that the woman identified as Lucy Nyokabi, 23, was a tenant in the house and was associating with a man who was only identified as a ‘rastaman’,” Kinoti said.
“After entering the house, whose door was locked internally, detectives discovered that the two had fought before committing suicide. The floor of the bedroom was covered in blood when the glass table in the living room was broken.”
