Two people killed by lightning in Machakos
Two people have died after being struck by lightning in Machakos county.
Both men died at the scene of the incident during heavy rains in Kanyonga village, Masinga sub-county on Saturday, April 23.
Masinga County Deputy Commissioner Veronica Musyoka said the incident happened at 2pm.
Musyoka said three other victims were admitted to Mwingi Level 4 hospital after being injured in the incident.

He said the deceased would run to their neighbor before the lightning struck.
The area has been plagued by thunder and lightning since Friday.
“Thunderstorms accompanied by thunder were heard in the area before the tragedy occurred,” Musyoka said.
Both died at the scene while three others were rushed to hospital after complaining of severe headaches.
Deputy Chief Musyoka Kyengo said he was notified of the incident immediately.
“It was around 2pm last night (Saturday) when I received a report that lightning had struck the house where five people had fled,” he said.
“Two of them, a 46-year-old man and a 13-year-old boy, died instantly after being beaten. The other three were rushed to Level 4 Hospital for treatment, were treated, and were shaking violently,” Kyengo said. .
The bodies of the deceased were transferred to Mbaku burial ground in Matuu.
