Wilson Airport has been closed to allow the military operations of the Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) at Langata camp.
Speaking to the media, an official from the Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) confirmed the closure of the aircraft, adding that the shutdown began on Wednesday, April 13 at 10 am and will continue until 5pm.
It was also revealed that President Uhuru Kenyatta will visit the Lang’ata camp to pay tribute to military exercises.
“Yes, it is due to the presidential ceremony in the Langata camp,” the official confirmed.
The exercise forced many airlines using the airport to reschedule their flights. The airport has airlines that travel mostly to Kisumu and Mombasa.
Safari link, one of the airlines said its customers have already been advised to book evening flights.
“Military operations are currently underway in the Langata camp. We have advised our clients to take departure flights after evening practice. Some took flights early in the morning, ”Safari Link said.
The president is expected to launch various military projects during the day, including the official inauguration of the Defense sports complex built by KDF
