Police reports say Nalem left her home a week earlier with a machete and cane on her way to the forest where her mutilated body was found on Saturday.
According to police, it is possible that the deceased was attacked by wild animals and ate her remains.
Kapenguria OCPD Kipkemoi Kirui said an investigation had been launched to determine if she had been attacked.
Kirui said the body must have been in the bush for more than a week.
