The Office of the President of Zimbabwe Emmerson Mnangagwa announced that the head of state had begun his annual cultural holiday on Thursday (January 13th).
Vice President Constantino Chiwenga will serve as interim president until the president returns to power on February 5.
According to a statement issued by the secretary general of the president and cabinet, Misheck Sibanda said Mnangagwa will spend his vacation in the country, especially on his farm.
“Mr. President Dr. E.D. Mnangagwa began his annual leave last year, January 13, 2022,” Misheck’s statement said.
“His vacation, which lasts until February 5, 2022, will be spent in the country,” he added.
It is different from its predecessor, former President Robert Mugabe, who preferred to spend his entire month-long annual holiday in the Far East.
